Victoria Savage

Victoria Savage is a highly experienced solicitor at Levy & McRae, a leading Scottish specialist litigation law firm with a legacy of over 140 years in resolving complex and demanding cases. Victoria operates within the firm’s commercial litigation department, handling a diverse range of civil and commercial matters, particularly those that are high-value.

Victoria joined Levy & McRae in January 2015 having trained and qualified with a commercial firm in Glasgow.

Main Areas of Expertise and Practice

Victoria’s practice is dynamic and encompasses several key areas:

  • High-Value Civil and Commercial Litigation: This forms a significant part of her workload, dealing with a varied array of disputes predominately in the Court of Session which on one occasion resulted in the action going to the UK Supreme Court.
  • Corporate Insolvency: Victoria has substantial expertise in corporate insolvency matters, including the winding up of companies and companies entering into administration. She often works closely with insolvency practitioners, with matters frequently being fast-paced and requiring urgent action to secure the best outcome.
  • Debt Recovery: Victoria’s long standing area of expertise is debt recovery, having worked as a debt recovery paralegal for many years before qualifying as a solicitor in 2009. Victoria is considered an internal authority within the firm. While she now primarily assists paralegals with this work, she maintains her involvement. Her background includes:
    • Volume debt recovery work, handling hundreds of cases at any one time.
    • Acting for secured lenders in the repossession of properties.
    • Representing finance houses for vehicles and other leased items.
    • Working for factoring companies and property managers in recovering unpaid factoring charges in terms of the property deed of conditions.
  • Personal Insolvency: Due to her extensive background in debt recovery, Victoria possesses considerable knowledge of personal insolvency, although she primarily focuses on the corporate side now.

Approach to Client Service

Victoria’s philosophy on client service is tailored to the nature of the client:

  • For Individual Clients: She emphasises being responsive, sympathetic, and a good listener. When dealing with individuals, she is mindful that the legal matter often impacts their personal lives significantly, potentially affecting their homes, children’s livelihoods, or inheritances.
  • For Corporate/Business Clients: While still providing excellent client care, the approach tends to be more business-efficient and less demanding in terms of “handholding.” The focus is on efficiently handling information and progressing the matter.
