Craig Penman

Craig joined Levy & McRae in November 2021 and is an Associate within the firm’s specialist litigation department, advising and representing clients across a broad range of civil, criminal and regulatory matters. He appears regularly in the Sheriff Court and Justice of the Peace Court and instructs counsel in the High Court of Justiciary and Court of Session.

Craig has acted in cases involving some of the most serious criminal allegations and has experience advising clients at every stage of criminal proceedings, from police interview and early stages of investigation through to trial and appeal. His practice encompasses criminal defence, proceeds of crime matters, professional regulation and civil disputes, with a strong focus on careful preparation and effective advocacy.  He has also developed particular interest in professionals facing regulatory investigations and proceedings, and also regularly acts for police officers in respect of on and off duty issues.

Craig has been extensively involved in high-profile Public Inquiries and Fatal Accident Inquiries. He has also conducted Public Inquiries before the Traffic Commissioner representing operators and licence holders in matters affecting their businesses, professional standing and regulatory compliance.
